Alex graduated with a BA (HONS) in Graphic Communication with Typography from Plymouth University, he now lives in Bristol where he works as a graphic designer. Alongside this he was involved in an exhibition in Plymouth in September 2008 where he exhibited 4 giclee prints as part of the launch of a new art collective called ‘Graphic Expressionism’. Alex is also in the process of designing the ‘look book’ (a collection of examples of the graduates work in a book) and other promotional material (posters, tickets, flyers) for the UWE Fashion 3rd year graduates show.
Mainly inspired by ‘street’ or ‘urban’ artists such as Mr Jago, Will Barras, Matt Sewell, Dave Kinsey, RichT, Sums. Alex also takes influence from different faces and all sorts of characters and likes to incorporate icons and symbols heavily in his work such as hearts, diamonds, flowers, stars and crosses mixing the pretty with more disjointed and quirky aspects and compositions.
The most special piece he’s created so far is entitled ‘The Walker’, that was produced to feature in the Graphic Expressionism show in Plymouth. “Creating this piece was really the start of a development in my style and led to a lot of things I’ve done since so it’s special in that way”.
